CHEERLEADING FAQs
------------------------------------------
Below is a list of some of the most commonly asked questions by cheerleading parents.  If you do not find the answers to your questions, please speak with your team mom and she will help you get the answers you need.

Q:  When does registration for the 2010 season begin?
A:  Registration for returning cheerleaders begins March 15th and ends April 20th.  You can register on line by going to http://www.signupanytime.com/front/event/List.aspx?a=653   Open registration and equipment pick up will be June 19th and July 17th in the DWFA Concession Stand from 10:00-3:00.

Q:  How many checks do I bring to registration?
A:  Three checks will be collected during registration for the cheerleading program. One check for registration, one check for deposit of equipment at time of equipment pickup and one check for deposit for concession stand duty. Deposit checks will be shredded at the end of the season as long as you have fulfilled your concession requirements and returned all equipment.
We are also accepting Visa and MasterCard this year but, there is an $8.50 processing fee to pay by card.
We are not able to accept cash for deposit checks.

Please refer to the Due West Cheerleading Refund Policy should your child decide not to participate after registration.

Q:  Is there a payment plan available for registration?
A:  Yes, you may pay 1/3 of your total fees on the day of registration and then 1/3 30 days from date of registration and the final 1/3 60 days from date of registration.  You can do this online by going to http://www.signupanytime.com/front/event/List.aspx?a=653.  Your credit card will automatically be charged the payments.  If you choose to register in person, please bring 3 checks for the registration fee; one dated for the date of registration, one for 30 days from the date of registration and one for 60 days from the date of registration.

Q:  How much is registration?
A:  To make things more economical this year, we are offering 3 choices for cheerleading.  The registration fee for sideline cheer with competition is $300.00, and the July registration (LATE registration) fee is $325.00.  The registration fee for sideline cheering only (not participating in competitions) is $250.00 and raises to $275.00 during the July LATE registration.  The registration rate for a Mascot cheerleader is $85.00.  A mascot must be between the ages o f 3 & 5.  The mascot registration does not qualify for any discounts, including sibling, and also does not qualify the sibling to receive a discount on their registration.

Q:  When can I pick up my equipment?
A:  May 17th for pre-registered players ONLY, June 19th and July 17th. Equipment pick up will be held during Open Registration ifrom 10:00-3:00

Q:  Can my daughter cheer for her brother or can my daughters cheer together?
A:  We will try to accommodate requests for siblings only but we can NOT guarantee that you can cheer for a particular football team.  That will depend on the number of coaches we have and the amount of cheerleaders we have registered.

Q:  When is the first day of pratice and what days will practice be held during the week?
A:  Our first practice will be Monday, July 26th. Practices will be Mondays and Tuesdays for competition squads from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Practices will be Thursdays for all sideline squads from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Sideline practices will end the last Thursday in September and competition practice will go to three days a week.

Q:  How many competitions will Due West attend?
A:  Three. The locations and dates are still to be determined.

Q:  Can parents leave practice?
A:   Yes, we do allow our parents to leave the girls only at competition practice once they have been escorted inside the gym provided the coach has emergency contact information for the parents.

Q:  Why does it take so long for cheerleaders to get their game schedules?
A:   NWGYFL (the league that governs football) has to wait until ALL football teams in their region have been certified. This is a very lengthy process and until it is completed they cannot produce a DII game schedule. The inability to produce the DII schedule also means that the DI schedule can't be finalized. Once it is known how many DII teams there will be in the region the schedule can then be put together and published.

Q:  What is included in my registration fee?
A:  Sideline cheer with competition includes: Uniform rental, turtleneck, bloomers, practice outfit, shoes, socks, poms poms, competition fees and music, trophy, $5.00 towards banquet, a picture package, field upkeep and maintenance and also membership fees.
Sideline cheer only includes: all of the above except they will not receive shoes and socks, or pay for the competition fees and music.
Mascot Cheerleader includes: uniform rental, bloomers, pom poms, picture package, participation trophy, field upkeep and maintenance, and also membership fees..

Q: Will there be a cheer clinic for the cheerleaders this season?
A:  Yes.  Details will be available soon.
