CHEERLEADING FAQs
------------------------------------------
Below is a list of some of the most commonly asked questions by cheerleading parents.  If you do not find the answers to your questions, please speak with your team mom and she will help you get the answers you need.

Q:  How many checks do I bring to registration?

One check for registration (unless sent in during pre-registration), one check for deposit of equipment at time of equipment pickup and one check for deposit for concession stand duty. ***NOTE: Deposit checks are returned when equipment is returned at the end of the season. After the last registration on July 19th only cash or cashiers checks will be accepted for registration.

We are not able to accept cash for deposit checks. Please refer to the Due West Refund Policy should your child decide not to participate after registration.

Q:  When can I pick up my equipment?
A:  May 17th, June 21st and July 19th. There will be a pre-registration date of May 10th for those who are returning athletes and are pre-registered.

A:  Yes, we do allow girls to cheer up a maximum of 3 years to cheer for/with siblings.

Q:  When is the first day of practice and what days will practice be held during the week?
A:  Our first practice will be Thursday, July 31st. Practices will be Monday and Tuesdays for competition squads from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Practices will be Thursdays for all sideline squads from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Sideline practices will end the last Thursday in September and competition practice will go to three days a week.

Q:  How many competitions will Due West attend?
A:  Three. KSU Cheer Off, Cyclone's Cheer Challenge and one additional competition which has not been decided as of this date.

Q:  Can parents leave practice?
A:   Yes, we do allow our parents to leave the girls only at competition practice once they have been escorted inside the gym provided the coach has emergency contact information for the parents.

Q:  Why does it take so long for cheerleaders to get their game schedules?
A:   NGYFL has to wait until ALL football teams in their region have been certified. This is a very lengthy process and until it is completed they cannot produce a DII game schedule. The inability to produce the DII schedule also means that the DI schedule can't be finalized. Once it is known how many DII teams there will be in the region the schedule can then be put together and published.

Q:  What is included in my registration fee?
A:  Uniform rental, turtleneck, bloomers, sweatshirt, practice outfit, shoes, socks, poms, competition fees and music, trophy, $5.00 towards banquet, a picture package, field upkeep and maintenance and also membership fees.

Q: Will there be a cheer clinic for the cheerleaders this season?
A:  Yes. The Georgia Tech Stinger Cheerleaders are going to be hosting a cheerleading clinic for our cheerleaders at Boots Ward Recreation Center on Saturday, August 2nd from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The cost of the clinic is $45 per cheerleader. This cost does include lunch. This clinic is not mandatory, but it is highly recommended. The girls will go over stunting, jumps, motions and learn some new cheers and chants.
